Lazarus House is a year-round emergency homeless shelter and transitional living facility for men, women, and children.  The facility is located in St. Charles at 214 Walnut St. in downtown St. Charles.  St. Patrick volunteers are involved 2-3 times a month on Thursday evenings, providing the evening meal or assisting the staff overnight.  Each volunteer serves 1-3 times per year (or more if they wish).  This ministry provides a great way to put our Christian faith into practice.  If you would like more information on this ministry, please contact:

Becky at 630-584-4836 or to help as an overnight volunteer or

Celeste @ to help with evening meals

Registration is Now Open for runners and walkers to participate in the
2021 July 4th Run/Walk at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve in St. Charles.

In 2019, nearly 300 patriotic participants started their holiday running or walking to help their neighbors in need. All proceeds benefit Lazarus House, a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit Emergency Shelter, Center for Transitional Living, & Homeless Prevention Program for men, women, and children who are homeless or in crisis from Batavia, Geneva,  St. Charles, or western rural Kane County.

Lazarus House is blessed to serve our neighbors who are struggling with homelessness. The important thing to know is that we cannot do it alone. St. Patrick’s Parish has, for years, generously assisted our guests with time, talent and donations. You are God’s hands and feet within our House and through you, each man, woman and child can feel the love of Jesus throughout the short time they are with us while on their journey. Thank you for all that you do through the ministry of providing food, volunteering time, purchasing needs items, as well as monetary donations. We would love to have you stop by and visit with us to see that YOU are making a difference in the lives of many!

Julie Purcell, Executive Director

As many of you know, I am fairly new to the role of Executive Director at Lazarus House.  My singular most celebration in this position is the support from our community.  For years, St. Patrick’s Parish as generously given and served the guests that we get to support here.  We know this is their home for a season and our prayer is that they feel the love of Jesus in this house.  You are constantly making that happen through monetary donation and the amazing food nourishment that you bring several times a month.  Thank you will never be enough and we are blessed by the collective heart of your parish.  Thank you for being God’s hands and feet in this ministry.  Stop by any time!  I would love to show you all of the new things happening at Lazarus House!

In love and grace,

Leanne Deister-Goodwin, Executive Director, Lazarus House
