This ministry involves those who knit or crochet shawls that are blessed, and then given to those who are sick or homebound. It is a way for the parish to show the compassion of Christ to those who are struggling because of sickness or any other significant hardship. The shawls wrap the recipient in the love of Christ and the love of the parish community. For more information on this ministry please contact Darcy at 630-443-9651.

The PSM will resume regular meetings on the First Tuesday of each month, beginning Tuesday, September 11 at 9:00 a.m. in the Fr. Carse Center, Downtown.

Join us as we share prayers, patterns and plain old good conversation. If you attend the 8:30 a.m. Mass, why not pop down to see what we’re up to? If you’re new to knitting or crochet, we can help improve your skills. If you’ve never picked up a hook or needle, we can get you started.

To date, our ministry has distributed over 700 shawls, wraps and lap blankets to people going through significant periods in their lives. Illnesses, retirements, relocating. There are many reasons to give a prayer shawl, not all of them catastrophic. Shawls have been given for weddings, First Communion and Confirmation. If you know someone who would benefit from a shawl contact us through the parish office, or stop by the office – there are shawls there that you may choose from. One does not need to be a member of the parish, or even Catholic, to enjoy the benefits of a
prayer-filled cloth of comfort.  God Bless.
